Come and Give Sledge Hockey a Try!!
The Ottawa Carleton Sledge Hockey and Ice Picking Association (OCSHIP) is inviting you to come and give sledge hockey a try:
When: Saturday, October 6, 2007 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Where: J.A. Dulude Arena, 941 Clyde Avenue, Ottawa
Cost: Free for persons with a disability!
All persons with a disability are welcome to come and try sledge hockey. OCSHIP will provide sleds and sticks and some instruction. There will also be a limited amount of hockey equipment available, but please bring your own hockey helmet and gloves if you have them.
Sledge Hockey is an innovative team sport that incorporates the same rules and discipline of regular ice hockey. Sledge Hockey players sit on sleds designed with skate blades under the seat and use two sticks to propel and manoeuvre their sleds and to stick-handle, pass and shoot the puck. Please try sledge hockey and if you enjoy it and decide that you would like to play this sport, you can join OCSHIP.
The Ottawa Carleton Sledge Hockey and Ice Picking Association (OCSHIP) promotes sledge hockey in the Ottawa area. OCSHIP has a program for novice players to learn the basics of the game and a program for intermediate players to improve their skills. OCSHIP sponsors its novice and intermediate teams in annual tournaments. OCSHIP also has a recreational house league with weekly games during the hockey season. The programs are open to disabled individuals and their able-bodied relatives and friends.
